Bruce Anderson

Bruce Anderson is a former law enforcement officer, field trainer, and undercover narcotics officer with the California Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement. Bruce has also worked extensively in sexual assault, rape, and missing child investigations. In June 1999, the Chief Deputy Council for the Governor of Colorado invited Bruce to Denver, to provide follow up assessments and recommendations for school security enhancements after the Columbine High School tragedy. He utilizes his martial arts and law enforcement expertise in the development of personal security and self-defense training programs. Bruce provides workplace, personal, and field staff safety and security training classes to senior executives, management, and employees of a vast array of private businesses and corporations, state/county/city governments and professional organizations and associations. He also trains teachers, parents and children in school districts nationwide in personal protection and safe school development. Bruce directed and produced two crime prevention series-the " Smart & Safe " crime prevention series for KOVR-13 News in Sacramento, California and a series for the Charlotte, North Carolina CBS affiliate, WBTV. Bruce will present on "Personal Safety for Field Personnel". He specializes in a comprehensive and common sense approach to assessing and addressing the security, emergency planning, and personal safety needs of personnel. He provides real, practical solutions to specific needs and takes pride in avoiding textbook answers to client issues.

Richard Elloyans

REHS
Richard Elloyan is a Registered Environmental Health Specialist with the State of Nevada, Division of Health, Bureau of Health Protection Services. Richard has worked for the Health Division since 1992 and is currently assigned to the Carson City office. His inspection areas currently include all the state facilities in Carson County and Washoe County, including the University of Nevada-Reno and the Correction Facilities in the state prison system. Richard's area also includes all of Storey County and he oversees all the food establishments currently under construction in what is billed as the world's largest industrial Park. Richard is also the State Shellfish Sanitation Officer with inspections throughout the entire state. Richard has assisted at each of the field offices around the state and participated in the permitting and inspection of the Burning Man Mass Gathering Event for each of the past nine years.

Christian E. Hardigree

Department Chair, Hotel Management Department William F. Harrah College of Hotel Admin, at UNLV
Christian E. Hardigree is an associate professor and the Department Chair for the Hotel Management Department (HMD) in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes, including Hospitality Law, Laws of Innkeeping and Food Service, Hospitality Employment Law, and Laws in Sports and Leisure Studies. Currently, she serves as the department chair for 21 faculty members within the Hotel Management Department. Christian has been teaching courses at UNLV since 1997. In addition to her educational obligations, Christian has an extensive background as a trial attorney practicing primarily in the areas of premises liability, security/safety, products liability, and employment law. She still maintains an active caseload at the firm Parnell & Associates, including private consulting and mediation/arbitration services. She is also a state appointed arbitrator for Nevada's mandatory arbitration program. She is licensed to practice law in Nevada and Georgia. Christian also serves as a consultant for numerous Strip properties in Las Vegas on a variety of litigation issues. Christian conducts research and presents papers at industry conferences nationally as related to her areas of expertise. In recent years, Christian has spoken to numerous groups on bed bug litigation, enlightening the hospitality industry on the legal pitfalls inherent in today's litigious society. The proliferation of bed bugs has created an obstacle course for virtually every business owner which necessitates a "working-man's" understanding of the technicalities of the American legal system. Please join Christian as she breaks down the myths and realities of bed bug litigation.

Janet E. Stout

Microbiologist
Dr. Stout received her BS in Biology from Clarion State College, Clarion, Pennsylvania; and her Masters and PhD degrees in Microbiology from the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Stout is the Director of the Special Pathogens Laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA and concurrently a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Stout discovered the link between the presence of Legionella bacteria in hospital water systems and the occurrence of hospital-acquired Legionnaires' disease while working at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. She was instrumental in the development of the prevention strategy that serves as the foundation for nationally-adopted Legionella prevention plans. Dr. Stout has lectured on Legionella at national conferences such as the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA), the American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE), and the Association of Professionals in Infection Control (APIC). She has authored approximately 80 peer review papers in the area of Legionnaires' disease, which include papers in The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of Clinical Microbiology, and the Journal of the American Water Works Association. Dr. Stout has also authored book chapters on Legionnaires'disease, including the Legionella chapter in the Manual of Clinical Microbiology. Recent research projects include: Eradication of Legionella from hospital water systems by copper-silver ionization and chlorine dioxide and development of microbiological criteria for assessing risk of Legionnaires' disease. Dr. Stout is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control, and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).

Anna Vickrey

Environmental Health Specialist
Anna Vickrey is an Environmental Health Specialist with the Nevada State Dairy Commission. Since 2001 she has managed the Milk and Dairy Foods Inspection program which includes the Interstate Milk Shipping Program. She is certified as the State Rating Officer, Sampling Surveillance Officer and Laboratory Evaluation Officer for the Interstate Milk Shippers Program. Prior to 2001 she worked for the Bureau of Health Protection Services in Nevada and Maricopa County in Arizona as an Environmental Health Specialist inspecting retail food facilities, Public Drinking Water systems and Institutions.
